1. Hansa Stuffed Animals
Know what's even better than the prospect of having a baby? The prospect of filling his room with life-sized Hansa stuffed animals. I have ALWAYS wanted a coterie of these little beasts, but my husband has always resisted. Until now. Kisan, which is arguably one of the more inspiring boutiques in Soho, has an awesome selection.
2. Carter's and Gymboree Coupons
Know what I want to spend a lot of money on? Eensy Patagonia jackets and striped Petit Bateau sweaters. Know what I don't want to spend a lot of money on? Super essential, but not-that-exciting five-packs of basic infant bodysuits from Carter's that he's sure to throw up on. Brand-new coupon site Robot Oatmeal always has coupons that actually work from Carter's and the like. (You can see, by the hour, when they were last redeemed).
3. Mini Rodini Beanies
If only I could dress the future little Fissmer exclusively in Mini Rodini. Alas, it's hard to justify the spend on pajamas he'll only get to wear a few times, but much easier when it comes to a 100% organic cotton Palm Tree-emblazoned hat that he can probably wear every single day.
4. Little Nest Tiny Tower Chair
No child is ever too young to learn about great design, right? Little Nest takes furniture classics from designers like Henry Bertoia, Charles and Ray Eames, and Le Corbusier and scales them down for the pint-sized crowd. Spendy, but kind of irresistible.
5. Landscape Floor Bins
As I piece together the nursery, I've been gravitating towards things that are child-appropriate, but not childish….primarily because I don't want to have to redecorate continually over the years. Quite honestly, I want these storage bins for every room of the house, not just the baby's room.
