Sisters Jessica and Jennifer Calvin describe their musical duo Bleached as “post-punk.” The blonde L.A. natives are influenced by classic bands like the Misfits and the Ramones, and their own sound reads as a lighter, more poppy take on punk rock. Denim jackets and oversized band tees paired with more feminine touches like lace dresses and knee socks define the edgy sisters’ style. Of course, their trademark tousled, bleached-out 'dos don't hurt!
What They're Packing

Jessie: Oxblood Doc Martens, thrifted denim jacket, Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask

Jennifer: Diorshow Black Out mascara, gold hoop earrings, thigh-highs

Akina Adderly
Austin band Akina Adderley and the Vintage Playboys are SXSW veterans. Adderley, the self-proclaimed "little woman with the big voice,” puts a soulful vintage twist on R&B and funk. Her musical roots are deep – she’s the granddaughter of jazz trumpeter Nat Adderley and the daughter of Nat Adderley, Jr., Luther Vandross' bandleader. Like her music, Adderley’s bohemian style also feels nostalgic—she mixes colorful maxidresses with plunging necklines and chunky gold jewelry.
What She's Packing
"Since I live here in Austin, I get to 'pack' everything! But I do have some staples that will definitely be making an appearance. I just went on a trip to Spain and brought back a killer pair of red Art Company boots from a shop called Tascon."
Caitlin Rose
Nashville’s Caitlin Rose's sound recalls that of country legend Patsy Cline. Her love songs find depth in Rose's wry lyrics and stirring, sweet voice. She describes her musical inspiration as “the loss of love without the melodrama,” and her personal style is just as low-key. Rose uses lip and cheek stain for a natural glow and turns to time-tested pieces like Ray-Ban sunglasses, vibrant plaid shirts and fur coats to achieve her effortless casual look.
What She's Packing
"I constantly reapply Benetint lip and cheek stain because it smells like roses."
What She's Packing
"The essentials I'm packing for SXSW are my Helmut Lang tank tops, L'Oreal's Voluminous Carbon Black mascara, my Caudalíe Eau De Beauté for a nice, glowing complexion and a Bobbi Brown stick foundation for quick cover-ups."
What They're Packing

Traceyanne Campbell: "I'm packing Urban Decay Primer, Minnetonka Mocassins, probably a selection of nylon vintage dresses or maybe sensible cotton ones."

Corey Lander: "Balenciaga Florabotanica and Korres Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisture face cream. I have a bag of travel-sized creams, sprays and perfumes for flying, as I hate the smell of airplane air and like to try and stop my skin from turning tarmac grey."

Carrie Rodriguez
Carrie Rodriguez got her start as a classic violinist and fiddler, studying at both Oberlin and Berklee College of Music before making the transition to singer/songwriter. Her fifth album, Give Me All You Got, was partly inspired by the style of Leonard Cohen, and deals with dark themes. But Rodriguez isn't all about gloom and doom—her latest musical endeavor also explores the pop side of the Americana genre. Flower fascinators, linen dresses, lace and embroidery fill this classically trained Austin native's closet.
What She's Packing
"Black knee-high Frye motorcycle boots go with everything!"
What She's Packing: Clarins Lipstick
"Color on lips and clothes is a good way to draw attention from tired eyes when you've been enjoying SXSW so much that you forgot to get some sleep."
