Skip the Bikini This Summer! How To Find The Right One-Piece For Your Body

Breaking news: a bikini isn’t always the sexiest choice of swimsuit. I'm sure many of you look hot in a bikini, of course, and I do admit to loving a good string-tied two-piece myself—but not every woman looks or feels her best in a teeny-tiny skimpy piece of fabric.

Sexy one-piece suits can be flattering, youthful and fun. I love this season’s plunging necklines, low backs, and skin-baring cutouts. The best part of wearing a one-piece? You’ll actually feel confident while strutting the sand or swimming in the water knowing that everything is securely held in.

I asked some of my favorite swimwear designers to weigh in on the issue, since they are truly the experts when it comes to swimsuit shopping. Click through to hear their thoughts on maillots vs. bikinis—and to shop some of my favorite one-pieces currently on the market.

"Figure-flattering lines are key to sexy one-pieces. For example, seams across the waistline create the illusion of a smaller waist. Also, low back styles are a great way to show a little skin but still be covered up." - Jessie Zinke
