How to Wear Red and Green Together—Without Looking Like a Christmas Tree

Summer is upon us, and we've teamed up with Rent the Runway’s stylists extraordinaire to celebrate flavorful colors in style as inspired by DASANI DROPS. Meet stylist Sam as she shares her style inspirations and fun, lively looks for painting the town red (and pink and yellow…).

When most people think about their own style, they have the tendency to place themselves into a category: preppy, minimalist, edgy, classic. I think there are infinite possibilities when putting together a look. Some days I nod to a Parisian schoolgirl look with stripes and flats, while other days I go for a California vibe in a floral sundress and tennis shoes. When choosing an outfit I tend to pick one central piece that excites me and plan my look around that—and I don't shy away from unexpected pairings, like green and red. With a pop of color, a perfect pair of sculptural heels, a statement necklace, or a few bracelets or rings, bring together colors that the less adventurous might deem impossible. To keep your look from feeling too "Christmas-y," pair tradition and jewel tones, like my collection's Allison Parris dress and Dannijo earrings. Go on—give it a shot!
