Apartment Aspirations
We have big dreams around my apartment that someday we will live in an organized, well-appointed home filled with unique and comfortable furniture. As part of my neverending quest to replace the "I got this in college/the trash/my parents' basement" pieces that are still scattered about, I've been hunting for a beautiful, modern-looking rocker. This is not an easy task.
Type "rocking chair" into eBay and most of what comes up is either too Victorian-granny or too "Home Sweet Home" country-kitchen for my tastes. But this vintage plycraft chair is everything I've been looking for: sleek lines; a seemingly soft, cushiony seat; a bright, warm color; and not so midcentury that it's overly Jetsons-ish. Plus, it's (right now, at least) reasonably priced and located in North Carolina, not, say, England, so you won't get killed on shipping.
Search tip: I found out that eBay actually has a great, truly specific furniture finder. Once you're on the Antique Furniture page, there's a search bar on the left side of the screen that lets you look under the kind of piece (chair, dresser), the specific style (art deco, midcentury modern), and—if you want to pick something up—an item's location.

eraish, which I am totally into. I have two matching chairs for this (believe it or not) that don't fit into my small house.
