Leg Up

1114_denim I like skinny jeans. I like how they fit, I like how they flatter, and I like how they feel; and so for what seems like months now that's all I've been wearing, and I haven't dreamed of buying anything else. Until, that is, this relaxed, wide-leg style from Genetic Denim caught my eye, and now I'm finally getting on board with the wide-leg trend that's been percolating through the Lucky offices. This pair is basically the inverse of the last jeans I bought: The color is classic, the rise is relatively high, and they're just distressed enough to look lovingly—and realistically—broken in. Best of all, though, is the leg, which is tailored and sharp but still wide enough to make me think that if Katharine Hepburn herself had ever deigned to wear jeans, these would have suited her nicely. And thus, they're good enough for me, too.

I love these pants. I bought a similar pair about a month ago but am having the hardest time wearing them with top ensembles that aren't menswear inspired.
I have loads of tent-like shirts from the summer in my closet but the proportions don't seem to work. What are you planning on wearing with your jeans?!

Such a good question: I'm grappling with this whole what-to-wear-with-a-high-waist-pant thing too... I could envision these with a silky long-sleeve blouse, tucked in. But would that be Lauren Hutton in a good way, or Lauren Hutton in a bad way?

For real? I feel like these are designed for women with zero hips. Who are you genetically blessed freaks?

These are so super cute, but are often only can be pulled off by women who are super tall and skinny. I wish I could pull these off but due to the fact that I have an hourglass figure and having what some people in Texas call "child bearing" hips (LOL!) I often have a TERRIBLE time getting into this look without feeling like I am 200 pounds overweight..Anyway, my point is that if anyone knows of this style that actually compliments girls with curves. PLEASE let me know!!

After a summer of skinny jeans (can we breathe please?) the wide leg denim trouser is such a welcome trend. We love them with ruffled blouses or heavy-knit sweaters with a belt around the waist. To see my outfit ideas, check out my blog at SHOPBlessed.com
