Pants for the Overindulgent
The best thing to wear if you ate as much as I did over the holidays (which is to say frequently and in extreme quantities) are jeans with a slightly higher rise. I know they might sound risky and anything but flattering, but I promise: The above-the-belly-button waistband sucks everything in and creates a smooth line, and with a little bit of stretch in the fabric, they're quite comfortable. And a dark wash and longer hem increase their slimming effect. My favorite pair right now is this one by Grey Ant. Since they're pretty pared down (no whiskering or contrast stitching), they feel a bit more sophisticated than the average pair of jeans, and they've got vertical seams down the front that add to their skinnifying, leg-lengthening quality.

Also check out the wide-leg style at Uniqlo. I grabbed a pair in London last month but I bet the NYC store has them too. They were about $50 and are a fantastic high-rise/wide leg combo. What a flattering shape on those of us who really suffered through the skinny jeans years...
i love these. i want to buy them and wear them with colorful flats and a loose long tank top.
I've had Grey Ant jeans similar to those for a year now (mine have woven lattice pockets) and they are the best! I wore them over the Summer with boho/ethnic tops and clogs, vintage short tees and wedge espadrilles, everything. Now I am wearing them with snug turtlenecks and a vest or cashmere shell on top, and mj boots with a chunky heel. They are comfy, with no risk of underwear showing when you sit down, and dress up and down nicely. Worth the $330 price tag!
Wondering if you think you can wear a bodyshaper and still look good in these jeans? Well I would show you it works but just check out www.siliconebody.com first. If you at all are interested in fitting into your already beautiful jeans and look more like a superstar take a look and try it yourself.
