creatures of comfort
This insider-favored Los Angeles resource stocks on-the-cusp international labels.

In just two years, this upper-Melrose boutique has become a go-to spot for Angelos looking for cool emerging labels. Its runaway success is due to owner Jade Lai's incredibly keen eye—she's both a trained architect and former trend forecaster. The shop's stark interior, comprised of poured-concrete floors, neon yellow racks, and plywood boxes repurposed as storage pods, melds well with the merchandise: Rachel Comey capelet-bodice dresses, Eley Kishimoto celestial-print shifts, and Jessica Ogden for Fred Perry gingham-trim cardigans. The store also offers a fabulous selection of accessories, like LD Tuttle's metallic wingtips. Bonus: A second Creatures of Comfort location is in the works, and Lai plans to debut a store label in the new space. 7971 Melrose Ave., 323-655-7855, creaturesofcomfort.us
