Kaight
On Manhattan's Lower East Side, a one-stop shop for compelling fashion with an environmental twist.

When Kate McGregor decided to open her own store in New York in 2006, she assembled an impressive roster of vibrant, cutting-edge labels—all of which also featured some kind of earth-friendly element. But for McGregor, it's not enough that the clothes are good for the planet: "I really look for pieces that are attractive based purely on their aesthetic, not just their materials," she says. McGregor's great taste is obvious the moment you walk into the store, a sleek, modern space with a cozy couch in the window. The stock includes everything from Lulu Frost jewelry (made from vintage baubles) and piles of Loomstate organic cotton denim to fancy little dresses from Mociun. 83 Orchard St., 212-680-5630, kaightshop.com
