It's hard for an independent boutique to remain perfectly on-trend over several years, let alone decades, and this brilliant little store has been a Rittenhouse Square hit for over 38 years. Its longevity—and faithful customer base—is the result of owner Ann Gitter's unerring eye: "We focus on basics with a twist, nothing too trendy or overdesigned," she says. This simple aesthetic has earned Knit Wit a reputation as a top spot for American and European brands—from J Brand denim and Ella Moss tees to lush dresses by Robert Rodriguez and the newly relaunched Biba.
