Lola y Maria
A cheery store on Manhattan's Lower East Side that highlights Latin and Spanish lines.

Despite its distance from the bustling vendors on Orchard Street, this little boutique has attracted local residents since it opened in 2004. Owner Gina Pagano has packed the space with a winning selection of small collections and hard-to-find South and Central American talent, like Brazilian Maria Bonita Extra and Peruvian-born Vanessa Barrantes. "We're pretty eclectic in a classic-meets-edgy way," says Pagano, "like Catherine Deneuve meets Bianca Jagger." A sleek '80s-inspired interior—including orb-like lighting fixtures and a slick Lucite counter—provides a clever backdrop to the playful frenzy of color and styles on the racks, where vivid Rojas dresses merge with uptown-ladyish She-Bible jackets. Devoted clientele not only shop the store, but also eagerly await the website's famous 24-hour sales. 175 Rivington St., 646-602-9556, lolaymaria.com
