Southern refinement meets of-the-moment West Coast style in this modern Charleston boutique.

While living in L.A., Guilds Bennett was constantly inspired by the local fashion scene, so when the 10th-generation Charlestonian moved back home, she was determined to bring some of it with her. "I wanted to create something Charleston had never seen," she explains. Her store, situated in a centuries-old building in the city's historic shopping district, is an exercise in simplicity—crisp white walls, high ceilings, enormous mirrors—a minimal look that's offset by gorgeously complex clothes. "I like statement pieces: things that are wearable but not safe," Bennett says. Right now, that means lots of bright hues and metallic finishes, like flirty Madison Marcus tanks, color-block prints from Abaeté, and feminine partywear from Dallin Chase. 346 King St., 843-722-7073, miostile.com
