Ooga Booga
A mecca for indie-cool culture in Los Angeles, this off-the-radar spot showcases an original mix of music, art, and fashion.

Since opening in 2004, this store, tucked above a bakery in Chinatown's Central Plaza, has been a one-stop shopping destination for the city's most forward-thinking residents. "I wanted to play with the idea of what a boutique should be," says owner Wendy Yao, who has curated a blend of music, DIY publications, and clothing. The racks are teeming with worthy selections: modern dresses from Bless and Diana Orving, unorthodox staples by Opening Ceremony, and eye-catching odds and ends, like handmade bird pins by Sarah Anderson. The space also plays host to a variety of hip events, like art openings and DJ'ed launch parties for underground magazines. 943 N. Broadway, No. 203, 213-617-1105, oogaboogastore.com
