Style Station

We've never encountered a place quite like this. Positioned along an empty stretch of central Texas interstate highway, it looks like a relic from another era, and in fact it is: a creaky old dance hall from the 1920s, complete with overgrown cacti and broken-down antique cars out front. Inside, the holiday-light-strewn space is stuffed to the rafters with Levi’s, vintage cocktail dresses, and costume jewelry from the '60s and '70s.

T.C. Lindsey General Store

This 160-year-old general store is the most charming and authentic in the state. Manned by the descendants of one of the early owners, the porch-fronted retailer has an authentic five-and-dime spirit, with locally ginned bales of cotton and farm tools on display, plus jars of molasses, work shirts, and rocking chairs for sale.

Look for the rudimentary sign out front that proclaims "Over one thousand used cowboy boots starting from $30," and you'll know you've arrived. Nestled in a sleepy neighborhood, the former mechanic's garage—which is what one might still mistake it for—is richly stocked with pair upon pair of gorgeous antique boots, from patchwork snakeskin varieties to elaborately tooled leather ones.

This is the most ingeniously curated antique resource we've ever encountered. Proprietor Steve Wiman only works with top-notch consigners, and it shows in the shop's 30-plus brilliantly executed booths, from a carnival-inspired stand dedicated to vintage gaming paraphernalia to a cabin-like nook laden with offbeat Western collectibles.

For almost 30 years, this spot hasn't wavered in its mission to sell feminine, fairly priced clothing and accessories to an appreciative El Paso clientele. This year-old offshoot of old-guard Dallas retailer Stanley Korshak has quickly proven to be one of the most on-point places in town to turn up refined small labels like Nili Lotan and Rachel Roy. Just as impressive as the stock is the courtyard-facing space, which has the romance of a Parisian atelier with its double-height windows, iron chandeliers, and a sweeping staircase.
