Determined to create props for her windows, Claudia Thompson painted some plastic animals cherry red and arranged them around her home-furnishings store. Now, of course, everyone wants to buy them. They're typical of the shop's entire aesthetic, which is a blend of antiques—small marble busts, sconces, stone-flecked chandeliers—and irreverent pieces, like a handful of side tables that Thompson washed with acid green paint.
