"As a competitive collector, I can't reveal my top secret spots, but I love, love, love the vintage expo, which is staged at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium several times a year. You can find all the best dealers in one place. Also I shop online quite a bit. Ebay is still great, but you've got to be specific in your searches (e.g., '40s velvet dress or '80s punk goth). It's fun to see what turns up."
