Montreal Shopping Trip
Abe & Mary's
This glossy all-white store feels like a super-chic spacecraft that randomly landed here, amid acres of car dealerships, miles from the city center. The stock covers all the bases, with an in-house apothecary, a café, and picks for tweens and men; the real activity, though, is upstairs, where you can sift through literally thousands of pieces from Christopher Deane, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Matthew Williamson.

Bleu Comme le Ciel
Helmed by a former buyer from Paris' Galeries Lafayette, this decade-old shop is exclusively about French costume jewelry, specifically bits with a posh-bohemian St. Barths sensibility. Tassel-laced, embroidered necklaces by Gas Bijoux, mother-of-pearl-studded pendants, and filigree gold earrings round out the mix.

Holt Renfrew
This space got its start in 1837 and is Canada's nicest department store: It's beautifully curated, with a focus on showing the full range from local talents like Teenflo and Mackage.

Indianica
There is a glut of high-end galleries for Inuit crafts in Old Montreal, but this is the one place we found that's loaded with things you'd actually want to wear: fur-lined moccasins, intricately beaded belts, fetish necklaces, and chunky pendants inset with bear claws.

La Baie
At 338 years old, the Hudson's Bay Company, a.k.a. La Baie, has a sleepier feel, but it's worth a visit to this mammoth department store for the signature trading blankets, which have an old-school graphic chic.

Librairie Librissime
Located in an appropriately storied spot (the building was constructed in 1793, on the walls of a fortress that was part of the original Montreal settlement), this art-and-fashion bookstore feels more like the private study of an insanely stylish aristocrat. Single volumes on Chanel, Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent abound, but the shop's real emphasis is on big-ticket collections, like limited-edition, book-filled Goyard trunks ($20,200).

Mona Moore
On first glance, Mona Moore appears empty—it's huge, washed in the softest of pinks, and graced with only a few exquisitely dilapidated Victorian fainting couches. When you peer in, though, you'll notice the shoes dotting the floor in perfectly placed pairs. Co-owner Anna Maria Varriano (who consults for Rick Owens) is renowned for buying what everyone will want well before anyone knows to want it: There are unerringly chic heels from Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, Pierre Hardy, and Balenciaga.

Morales
With a recent relocation—to a space where the walls are blanketed with groovy scribbled murals—Montreal-based design star Renata Morales now has even more square footage for highlighting her slightly surreal garments. Silk blouses with asymmetrical sequin appliqués and cocktail dresses with hundreds of structured pleats are some of her notable hits.

The original, lofty outpost of this two-location-strong boutique boasts streetwearish lines like Trovata, Fremont, and Modern Amusement.
