Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill/Carroll Gardens/Red Hook

Legacy

One of those unerringly great boutiques that have been around forever (since 1978!), Legacy debuted in Soho before also arriving on Brooklyn's Atlantic Avenue. Owner Rita Brookoff arranges inspiring new labels next to an impeccably chosen lineup of vintage gowns and jackets (including pieces from marquee names like Lanvin and YSL). The two house collections—made from vintage fabrics—are worth checking out as well. 109 Thompson St. SOHO 212-966-4827; 362 Atlantic Ave. BOERUM HILL 718-403-0090, legacy-nyc.com

Saipua

In this light-drenched space you'll find fresh flowers and lush olive-oil-based soaps. Their body products—packaged in gorgeous Florentine paper—come in a range of distinctive scents like white grapefruit and coffee mint.
147 Van Dyke St., 718-624-2929, saipua.com

Winkworth

This lingerie mecca offers an impressive selection from Paris-based Princesse Tam-Tam and antique-lace-trimmed slips from the house line, or consider springing for one of the exquisite custom-designs.

Council

Launched Valentine's Day 2009, this airy collective stocks impeccable vintage furniture sourced in the Deep South by Genie Lee, plus Miranda Bennett's hand-dyed silk dresses and tops, and necklaces strung with flecks of laser-cut balsa wood from Pamela Johnston's label, Plume.
360 Atlantic Ave. Boerum Hill 718-522-6906

Darr

Gloriously over-the-top, Darr is an updated version of an old-world antiques store: Turn-of-the-century toy horses, wildebeest taxidermy, and busts carved from wood are a stunning backdrop to the smaller home goods, like horn serving spoons and gold-hued scissors imported from India. 369 Atlantic Ave. BOERUM HILL 718-797-9733

Layla

Owner Alayne Patrick travels to India constantly to source everything from rough-cut diamond drop earrings to satin quilts, which she then deftly mixes with Megan Park gowns and a house line of tunics. A recently opened towel annex across the street is replete with neatly folded stacks of Missoni beach blankets and exuberantly patterned Fabindia bath sheets. 86 Hoyt St. BOERUM HILL 718-222-1933; 83 Hoyt St. BOERUM HILL 718-222-1933
