This out-of-the-way spot doubles as a sun-drenched studio for Ivan Duval and Jean Sebastien Ides, who sprang onto the design scene 10 years ago with a range of cleverly conceived home items. A seemingly broken ceramic piggy bank is actually a puzzle, and a sisal mat is cut in the shape of an old-school bearskin rug.

Otherwise known as Clignancourt, this is Paris' most famous flea market—and clocks in as the world's largest. Every Saturday through Monday (9:30AM to 6PM, though it's sleepy until about 11AM) it comes to look like a small town, divided into a host of marchés, which are either indoor warehouse-esque buildings or a designated maze of stand-alone stalls. Voyages, which has antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunks and Birkin bags, in Marché Serpette, is one of the more hyped vendors, but we found the best deals in the alleyways of the more understated Marché Vernaison (there are lots of posted maps, and guides for each marché are plentiful at all the stands). You'll still stumble occasionally across a five-figure oil painting at Vernaison, but there are loads of affordable silver, jewelry, and clothing here, too.

Helmed by the extremely affable artist Bruno Hadjadj and his wife, Roberta Oprandi, this excellent store reads like a gallery. Hadjadj's amusing doodles grace the walls, and an extensive (and for sale) collection of midcentury modern furniture serves as a spare backdrop to the carefully arranged dresses and boots from A.P.C. and Pierre Hardy.
