This slip of a Marais shop has garnered a devoted following for its artist-designed wallpapers, featuring photographed stacks of novels, five-foot-high images of cutlery, and panels covered with shimmering sequins. It also stocks beautiful gifts, including patterned plates, bud vases, and modern lighting fixtures.

Occupying a wedge-shaped corner space, this brand-new spot has an alluringly goth air (even the dressing rooms are paneled in tufted black brocade). It's replete with embellished, romantic pieces from nicely affordable labels such as By Malene Birger and Baum und Pferdgarten.

The one-named designer's Greek heritage is reflected in the soft, draping lines of almost every piece here. Boldly colored dresses finished with inset bows, groovily patterned jersey tops, and a small collection of shoes and canvas belts round out the mix.

A giant gilded birdcage, which doubles as a dressing room, is the first thing you'll notice at this newcomer. Former fashion buyer Farida Senouci imagined what a slightly crazed '70s socialite might buy if she were shopping right now and built the boutique to look like her walk-in closet, filled with a haute-bohemian wardrobe of Vivienne Westwood blouses and Eley Kishimoto Mary Janes.

You'll know this shop by the mannequins that are literally crawling across the floor. Despite its burlesque undertones (it sells amazing patterned and seamed knee-high stockings), this Paris-based collection has considerable polish. Lace-up patent oxfords are finished with pencil-thin black-and-gold-striped heels, and satin sheath dresses are trimmed with origami-esque florets.

If you asked Lucky staffers to tell you their first post-airport pit stop, it would be Isabel Marant. This is partly because the designer's clothes aren't easy to find in the States (and not sold online), but primarily because she does a slightly exotic spin on interesting—and wearable—silhouettes better than anyone else. Spring's highlights include block-printed jackets and carefully embroidered shifts. She has three shops, but the Marais outpost is our favorite.

From the street, one would never guess that Laetitia Ivanez's space is actually a store. The all-black main level is full of huge cutouts from the movie Blow-Up—and a handful of shoes. Downstairs, there's a slender, airplane-like corridor where you can find her entire collection of gloriously colored, cleanly cut corduroy bomber jackets and tuxedo pants.

Housed in a space that mimics an old-school workshop, complete with wrought-iron fixtures and worn wooden floors, Loft Design By is the sort of place to stock up in before a long flight. Paper-thin cashmere cardigans with attached scarves, loose trousers that are as comfortable as sweatpants, and thermal Henleys in soft oatmeal shades are all on offer.

"Manoush" means "gypsy" in French—appropriate since everything here evokes a folkloric feel. Quilted dresses with ermine cuffs and dresses sequined in woodland-themed patterns are arranged against a wall of shimmering tiles, and itsy cutout shelves hold bejeweled animal figurines. Biggest location:

Situated on one of the Marais' best shopping stretches, this tiny, easy-to-overlook operation offers only a single rack of clothing—but it's exquisite. Everything is designed in-house, with a focus on embroidered silk dresses and lacy tops, none of which are more than $200.
