Bethesda, MD

Daisy Too

District dwellers visit the smaller, more centrally located Daisy boutique in Adams Morgan when they don't feel like making the drive to its Bethesda sister store. But we prefer this suburban Daisy for its three-times-larger selection (more Susana Monaco, Rebecca Taylor, and Jill Stuart), plus an entire room of sale items and easy parking.

Luna

Part of a burgeoning chain of Luna boutiques that dot the South, this newer location is one of the best-stocked, with a generous array of feminine blouses, skirts, pants, and cocktail-party dresses by Diane von Furstenberg, Joie, and more.

Mustard Seed

Long a favorite of hipsters on a budget, this simply decorated shop sells new and used clothing, much of it brought in by locals trading in their quality castoffs for cash. Every visit turns up a great find: We discovered a vintage metallic striped sweater and a new pair of Dickies hip-huggers. Bonus: If you're selling, the Mustard Seed pays well.

National Jean Company

Visit Bethesda Row on Woodmont to check out this premium outpost for denim and the rest of the outfit, too. In addition to the expansive denim selection, you can find the latest from James Perse, Juicy, and Ella Moss, in addition to jewelry and handbags.
