Ask anyone who’s been and they’ll tell you that this designer discount store is worth the trip to Nashville alone. The buyers purchase men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories in bulk from boutiques all over the country and slash every item with a by 70 percent immediately (further reductions usually come later).

You might have to dig a little to find the scores, but there’s no better place to stock up on new Gucci, Stella, Chloe and Dior for less than the price of a plane ticket there.

Imogene + Willie

Don’t be fooled by this denim shop’s unassuming home in an ex-gas station. The hardwood floors, antique décor and resident yellow Labrador napping in the corner will trick you into thinking you’ve stepped into a rustic, alternate universe.

Imogene+Willie crafts its raw denim into perfectly tailored basic blue jeans in-store, winning the brand a cult following far outside the Nashville city limits.

The Cosmetic Market

Both locations are stocked with national brands as well as local favorites, such as the skincare line Therapy Systems (created by the shop’s founder Linda Roberts). Along with reasonably-priced services like brow waxes and facials, we love the airy shop because the sales associates don’t only remember all your favorite products, but they remember your name as well.

POSH Boutique

Originally a teeny outpost for indie designers like aryn K and fluxus, POSH still carries under-the-radar favorites, but throws in some Diesel and William Rast for good mesaure.

Billy Reid

Considering the Louisiana-bred designer has his clothing empire firmly rooted below the Mason Dixon line (his business is based in Florence, Alabama), it’s no surprise he chose to open his seventh U.S. boutique in Nashville three years ago. With massive French doors of dark wood, various Oriental rugs and dressing rooms decked out in European wallpaper, the Green Hills shop is as luxe and timeless as Reid’s classic clothes.

H. Audrey

Owned by singer/songwriter Holly Williams (the daughter of country legend Hank Williams Jr.), the walls of this Green Hills boutique are adorned with rock photos by Henry Diltz, whereas the floor features Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, and Yigal Azrouel. Nicole Kidman and Gwenyth Paltrow are fans, not to mention locals who want to get Barneys and Bergdorf-style pieces without leaving town.

Fanny’s House of Music/ Diamond Star Halo

This East Nashville bungalow is home to not one but two very different female-owned boutiques, making the shop quite literally the best of both worlds. Fanny’s is a music store that sells used instruments and merchandise, whereas Diamond Star Halo sells an awesomely edited collection of women’s vintage clothing. And the best part is that Diamond Star owner Libby Callaway labels every retro item with the location where she found it, making each piece even more special.

Local Honey

Located across the street from Belmont University, this quaint house (formerly home to Karen Elson’s Venus and Mars boutique) is the hipsters' go-to- spot for local designers and amazing vintage wares. Most of the designers are under 30, self-taught and female, making original and reasonably priced clothes you won’t find anywhere else.

Grimey's New & Preloved Music

Opened in 1999, this Nashville institution has gained a reputation from musicians and fans alike as the spot to buy, sell and trade CDs and vinyl. In a city known for its love for country, Grimey’s is a beloved alterative to honkey tonk, thanks to its constant stock of indie goodness and live shows from Foster the People and The Black Keys.

Harpeth Gallery

For a taste of Old Nashville, check out this Green Hills gift shop. For more than 70 years, the family-run store has sold furnishings, home décor and decidedly luxe knick-knacks ideal for decking out your house or apartment. While it’s known for providing the perfect presents for parties, weddings and baby showers, we don’t blame you splurge on yourself.
