Dress Codes

The racks and benches in this pod-like boutique almost seem as if they've been carved out of one piece of molded white plastic. This only-the-essentials principle extends to the merchandise, which includes Earnest Sewn and Deener denim in darkest wash, and simply cut T-shirts from Woo. There are also journals and photo albums from Seoul (the duo behind the shop taught school there before landing in Atlanta) with trippy cartoon covers.

Providence

Determined to create props for her windows, Claudia Thompson painted some plastic animals cherry red and arranged them around her home-furnishings store. Now, of course, everyone wants to buy them. They're typical of the shop's entire aesthetic, which is a blend of antiques—small marble busts, sconces, stone-flecked chandeliers—and irreverent pieces, like a handful of side tables that Thompson washed with acid green paint.

20th Century Antiques

Just down the street from its original location, this sunny vintage home store has an unexpectedly wide array of modern Swedish bureaus and coffee tables. There are loads of smaller-scale steals, too, like faceted glass vases, etched barware, and tiny, carved wooden deer heads from the Black Forest.
