Balenciaga
Even if you can't afford a Balenciaga gown, visiting one of the futuristic, dreamscape-like boutiques is akin to taking in a museum: For spring/summer 2009, Nicholas Ghesquière is re-creating 26 iconic pieces from Cristobal Balenciaga's archives (1932—1967), which are all available at the Paris flagship.

Christian Dior
Christian Dior is still best known for couture evening gowns and perfectly turned-out, fitted day suits, but we're most smitten with the ladylike handbags and heels. There are four ready-to-wear boutiques, but the shop in the 8th arrondissement is the best.

Christian Louboutin
These red-sole-finished stilettos, which are turned out in everything from paillettes to fluorescent suedes, are arguably one of Paris' best exports. Of the three stores, the decadently appointed 8th arrondissement shop is our favorite.

Hermès
Not only is the rue du Faubourg store its very first (Hermès, founded in 1837, moved into the fabled building in 1880), but it's also the largest, offering a more extensive selection of enamel bracelets, watches, and bags than anywhere else in the world. Plus, it carries all the horse tack, which was the company's original purpose.

Le 66
A sprawling expanse of glass and concrete on the big-brand-laden Champs Elysées, Le 66 clocks in at over 125,000 square feet. There are home goods (the store's 66 favorite, in fact), a book and magazine kiosk, and a slate of designers who fit into three specific categories: bohemian (Antik Batik), rock (Acne, Ilaria Nistri), and urban (A.P.C., Iro, Abaco).

Louis Vuitton
One of the biggest shopping spectacles in Paris, this recently refurbished and expanded shop even has a logo-bedazzled exterior. Inside, it's a complete world of Louis Vuitton: All of the accessories are here, as well as an extensive range of the clothing collection.

Yves Saint Laurent
We're most smitten with this venerable fashion house's shoes and bags—there are shapes, colors, and materials at the 8th arrondissement outpost that aren't on shelves elsewhere.
