BA&SH

This relative newcomer (Barbara Boccara and Sharon Krief, who grew up together, launched the line in 2003) is already leaving a significant footprint across Paris with six outposts. It hits all the major Paris trends among the bohemian 20-something set, so fringe tufted boots, shaggy fur vests, and A-line minidresses line the racks.

Deyrolle

After a devastating fire last February destroyed 90 percent of the fabled taxidermist's inventory, Parisians rallied around the nearly 200-year-old landmark and brought it back to life. It really is one of the most special stores in existence, with a collection of preserved lions, birds, and butterflies that could rival that of any natural history museum. Everything is for sale, including suitcase-friendly items like botanical prints and coffee-table books.

Iro

One of the best things about shopping in Paris is that there are loads of small designers (BA&SH, Paul & Joe Sister, Sandro, Maje) with their own stores who manage to mirror the moderate prices of huge chains like Zara and Banana Republic. Iro is one such standout, with cropped black blazers, drawstring-waisted blouses, and delicately fringed scarves.

Le Bon Marché

This 157-year-old institution—the city's first department store—is also Paris' fanciest. It offers a slew of smaller labels like Manoush and Isabel Marant, along with an exceptionally deep array of heavy hitters like Stella McCartney and Christian Dior.
