A.P.C.

Thanks to its timeless, clean-cut silhouettes and retro-cute prints, the Paris-based label A.P.C. has become one of the most sought-after brands in the States, too.

Claudie Pierlot

Created by a onetime stylist, Claudie Pierlot turns out slightly boyish shapes rendered in feminine fabrics. Peter Pan-?collared blouses, pom-pom-trimmed cardigans, and mini-shorts are reliable hits—and all available at its three airily stocked shops.

Heimstone

The impossibly glamorous Alex Petit and Delphine Delafon, who started their line, Heimstone, close to two years ago, look as though they belong to some sort of Santa Fe rock band/motorcycle gang, an aesthetic that's mirrored in their shop. The floor is dotted with potted cacti and weathered antlers, and their simple dresses, done up in rich shades of purple and green and featuring suede patchwork and fringe, hang next to leather jackets pieced together with double-edged spear-shaped studs.

Jamin Puech

Started almost 20 years ago by Benoit Jamin and Isabelle Puech, this bag line, which now has freestanding shops all over the world, is most loved for its exotically influenced details. Totes are trimmed with mirrors and gigantic beads or quilted out of pieces of sari and lace, which makes every item look as if it was plucked from some far-flung flea market or global bazaar. There are four Jamin Puech boutiques in the city, but we like the 6th arrondissement location best.

Jerome Dreyfuss

A master of the chic multifunctional shape, Dreyfuss—husband of designer Isabel Marant—crafts his bags from leather that's astoundingly soft. All of his hits—satchels that transform into clutches, tiny saddlebags—are displayed in his recently opened, gorgeously spare space, which is right next door to one of his wife's shops.

Kyrie Eleison

When Zoé Ferdinand opened her shop in 2007, she wanted to channel the 6th arrondissement's literary traditions (Hemingway's preferred haunt, Les Deux Magots, is just across the street). French novels fill shadowboxes on the walls, and appropriately gamine pieces, including Cacharel blouses and Virginie Castaway sweaters, line the racks.

Les Puces de la Porte de Vanves

Situated at the Southern perimeter of this city, this flea market most closely resembles what you'll find in the States. Folding tables are arranged along a V-shaped sidewalk and stacked with everything from antique jewelry to fur coats to old china. Go at around 11AM on either weekend day: Vendors on Avenue Marc Sangnier only stick around until 1PM, while Avenue Georges Lafenestre is open until 6pm.

Serendipity

Normally a children's gift store would never catch our eye, but this beautifully appointed spot is different. Almost all of the items work just as well for adults, from the rabbit throws by Maison de Vacances and the antique chests to the delicate, handmade ceramic mobiles.
17 rue des Quatre Vents, 33-1-4046-0115

UPLA

Launched in the '70s and named for a French dairy farmers' union, this collection of fuss-free canvas bags has a winningly straightforward, utilitarian vibe. Shapes and colors range widely—from messenger bags to shopping totes—but every item has an elegant functionality.

Zadig & Voltaire

This extremely popular French standard—which now has a shop in Los Angeles—is known for its limited, almost army-inspired palette (gray, light purple, muted green) worked into excellent-fitting silhouettes. Hip-grazing sweaters with patched elbows, skinny jeans, and rumpled leather bags that look like they've been washed a million times are highlights. It also has a small outlet store in the Marais (see 4th arrondissement).
Biggest location: 1 rue du Vieux Colombier, 33-1-4329-1829, Outlet: 22 rue du Bourg-Tibourg 4th arr., 33-1-4459-3962 zadig-et-voltaire.com
