Shytina Love, featured in October's "Does This Outfit Work?," wanted to make her favorite summery minidress cold-weather-friendly. Here's how we tweaked her look to make it even better.

• Replaced her semi-sheer tights with opaque brown ones.

• Substituted her stiletto boots for a more casual, flat, leather ankle boot.

• Swapped her shoulder bag for a handheld version with a similarly relaxed feel.

"She needed more daytime-appropriate accessories," says our senior fashion editor Laurie Trott. "Opaque tights were the first step. Flat ankle boots are also a good alternative to her old stilettos: they're laid-back but still show off her legs. And since long-strap bags can hitch up the fabric of a short dress, she needed something that didn't sit on her shoulder. It's exactly right!"

Shytina's reaction: "These boots have a cool downtown vibe, and I don't feel as dressed up as I did before."

$191.95, Sigrid Olsen Handbags, zappos.com
