Lucky Girl: Seven Days of Outfits

Manhattan-based visual artist Teresa Brown, featured in our April issue, adores bright color and more than just a hint of sparkle, "even if it means I'm a little overdressed," she explains. We loved how she mixes it all together, and asked her to document her outfits for a week. Here are the inspiring results.

Day One

"I wore this outfit to meet my mom for lunch and then for a walk around the city. It's casual and layering is always great in the spring."
file

Day Two

"Hanging out before dinner out on a weekday night with my roommates. I love fishnet tights, and wear them all the time. They add great texture to any outfit."
file

Day Three

"I wore this to my friend's birthday dinner at Abe & Arthurs in the Meatpacking District, and later took it for a spin on the dance floor! I love stretchy jersey-type knits."
file

Day Four

"I put on the same Bettie Page dress to head to the farmers market. And I love this cap—I wear it with everything!"
file

Day Five

"I love wearing yellow as soon as the weather starts warming up. I was heading to Harlem to visit my friend Antonio and to grab a bite to eat at Raw Soul! Yum!"
file

Day Six

"I've had this vintage flower dress for over five years. I wear it with boots and tights during the day, but at night I like to add a little shine with #205 red lipstick by Make Up For Ever. I wore this to a club for girls' night out dancing."
file

Day Seven

"I was on my way to Sunday brunch at Kate's in the East Village. No matter how rough of a night you've had, their double bacon veggie burger will cure your hangover. These blue booties make me smile—they're borrowed from my roommate (thanks Jeanie!). I'm wearing the striped top backward over two layered and very raggedy white vintage voile petticoats."
