Lucky Girl: 7 Days of Outfits

Day One

This is me at 3 o'clock in the morning at Decibel, a sake bar and currently my favorite place to lose track of time. As you can see I am wearing a tasteful ensemble of a Missoni sweater (also known as a Cosby sweater) and my ASICS running shoes, which remind me of a sort of fitness-minded, female robocop. The best running shoes are usually the ugliest ones.

Day Two

I work many days right here from home. This is a blessing as long as you work some days from other places that are not home. Here I am wearing more vintage Missoni (elastic-waistband blue pants) and a yellow sweatshirt by A.P.C. Behind me you can see my prized Kenneth Anger film still.

Day Three

This evening was an evening spent seeing Mummenschanz, the Swiss pantomime crew started in 1972, whose antics hark back to some very early PBS type of memories. They were fantastic. I am wearing vintage YSL Jeans, a vintage YSL Jacket and my overcoat is MaxMara. And of course my Il Bisonte Handbag, which I have not stopped wearing for over a year, every day. Maybe two years. So plain, and so perfect (I mean the handbag).

Day Four

Shopping and clearly in the midst of locating a bargain at the Chelsea flea market. This is my favorite flea market as many of the dealers have truly individualized tastes and their booths are often exquisitely curated. I am wearing once again Missoni pants but these are new, not vintage, and the purple short-sleeved bolero shell is by Versace and it's vintage. The pink belt is Miu Miu.

Day Five

I am from Los Angeles, so it will probably not surprise you to learn that I occasionally find myself in a tanning bed. Here I'm wearing a super-thick Irish cashmere sweater from the flea market and some Levi's. Also, my beloved Tod's boots and Moschino sunglasses.

Day Six

Documenting my outfits has been rough since it is the middle of January here in New York and so I am forced to spend most days in this gigantic overcoat and boots. Here I am on my way to shoot, where I generally like to be comfortable and have full range of motion, since I often move around a lot when I'm photographing.

Day Seven

Here I am at an art opening for a good friend. I tried out for the first time (though it's hard to see here) a new hairstyle I'd been thinking about since the summer—sort of a Dynasty-reminiscent side knot. I wanted to dress up so I thought it was the right time to try it. To round out the look I also wore some diamond studs I inherited from my mother that turned out to be cubic zirconia. The beautiful jacket has really strong structured shoulders; under my overcoat it gave a Bea Arthur impression to my silhouette. Something I have normally avoided in my life but now am feeling more open to. The jacket is contemporary YSL.
