Our Kate Middleton Fashion Wish List

Kate Middleton has achieved international superstar status in a matter of a few months. We were blown away by her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown—it brought to mind Grace Kelly’s iconic dress. Kate plays the role of first princess (yes, we know technically she’s a duchess) perfectly—her fashion choices, while still showcasing her trim figure, are great. But ... well, we’d love to see her take some chances. Look at Michelle Obama, who’s been taking internationally scrutinized (and thrilling) fashion risks since January 1, 2009, while always keeping it proper and suitable. FLOTUS wears young American designers like Jason Wu and Thakoon, adeptly mixing in big brands like J.Crew and Talbots. We know Kate can do it, too (and we’d love to see what she can do with Topshop). What better time and place for the newly fledged royal to throw sartorial caution to the wind than on her North American tour? She can always blame jet lag if something doesn’t work. Here, our choices for what we’d love Duchess Catherine to wear:
