Summer Music Style Special: Eleanor Friedberger

The indie darling’s low-key look takes a little more effort than you might think.

Eleanor Friedberger is a bit of a superwoman, and not just because she cuts her own bangs. Her solo debut Last Summer, released in April, established the Oak Park, Illinois native as a bona fide one-woman act, separate and distinct from her role as one-half of the beloved Fiery Furnaces. Her album—a nostalgia-laced concoction of moody rock, breezy synth beats, and playful pop—is an understated gem. And now, the Brooklyn-based songstress is on tour, bringing her wistful tunes to audiences across the country. We checked in with the awesomely-tressed beauty to find out what—in addition to her favorite haircutting shears—she can’t leave home without. Click through to see Eleanor’s packing must-haves, and view her video for the ultra-catchy “My Mistakes” below.
