The Garter Revival

Just when you thought life couldn’t get more complicated for a woman—after all of the primping, pinching, and pruning—a contraption like the garter makes its way back into fashion. Luckily they are MUCH simpler this time around!

With the same sex appeal as the original garter, the new garters are much more fashion than function. First of all, thigh-highs have silicone now at the top of the thigh, so most stockings actually stay up themselves. The clip-on garters still clip, but only as an added accessory. But what a fabulous one at that! The high-waisted garter belt adds a feminine, romantic quality that outdoes any traditional panty look. Just look at this Agent Provocateur garter set!

Even better are the new “faux” garters, which give the sex appeal without any of the effort. These trompe l'oeil tights look like black matte tights, until you get a peek under the skirt. Pretty Polly’s Super Suspender Tights are the most popular version, and it’s easy to see why.
