Shop the Show: The Carrie Diaries Premiere
Curiosity about Carrie Bradshaw's family—only vaguely referenced in HBO's Sex and the City—didn't make me watch the premiere of The Carrie Diaries, the CW's much-anticipated SATC prequel, last night. Neither did any interest in her pre-Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte crew, or non-Mr. Big boyfriends. Still, I made the effort to close my MacBook, stash my iPhone and pay close attention for one extremely important reason: the fashion. Nay, the fashion as interpreted by Eric Daman, the show's costume designer.
As you might already know, Daman masterminded each outfit on the recently-wrapped Gossip Girl, right down to every last cleavage-popping dress in Serena's closet. But before that, he assisted Patricia Field, Sex and the City's legendary stylist, thus giving him a hand in what some consider (including me and, like, everyone in my office) two of the best-dressed shows ever. The verdict is still on out on whether The Carrie Diaries will be number three, but the first episode definitely included some solid looks I wouldn't mind owning myself.
In the slideshow below, I've include five of my favorites, along with comments from Eric himself on each. Click through to shop them all now—and for more style updates from The Carrie Diaries, follow @EricDaman_Style on Twitter and visit Ericdamanstyle.wordpress.com.
