NYFW Fall 2013: Day Three Wrap-Up

Prabal Gurung, Fall 2013

"I just discovered that a new Juice Press outpost opened in the Meatpacking District since last NYFW. There's some raw food but mostly drinkable meals—over a dozen kinds. They must be making a killing this week! I recommend the soup if you have time to sit. Plus its great people watching: you're guaranteed to see a few off duty models on their way from a gig at milk." -Alison Syrett, Digital Fashion Writer

"Jill Stuart always picks the absolute best runway music for her shows, and this season was no exception. As models walked, we heard everything from The Breeders' 'Cannonball' to tracks by two newer—but equally awesome—acts, MSMR and Blood Orange. The soundtrack fit her '90s-minded yet romantically modern collection perfectly. Jill, will you make me a mixtape sometime?!" -Elana Fishman, Digital Fashion News Editor

"Checking my instagram feed before Prabal Gurung's show alerted me that there was a military influence to be seen on the runway. Instagram never lies—Prabal sent out an army of HBIC dressed with peplums, embroidery and a commanding presence. At the finale, I wasn't quite sure if we were all about to be drafted into the Gurung army or what was going to happen. For what it's worth, it didn't look like anybody would object to a tour of duty with that crew." -John Jannuzzi, Digital Editor

"Woke up mad that I'm not wearing everything from the Billy Reid show last night. Also slightly hungover since they serve bourbon there. Everything was fixed when Elana and I got to the Prabal Gurung show at noon, arriving 8 looks in even though we basically ran from our previous show. It was so good, and thanks to a finale where the models stood like chess pieces on the runway instead of just breezing by super quickly, I got to see all the looks, even those beginning ones I'd missed. It was like the fashunz gods saying I did something right. Thanks guys." -Natalie Matthews, Digital Fashion Writer
