Doug for J.Crew
More than a decade after the show ended in the late '90s, the Doug theme song still makes us smile. This gangly Bluffington student always recognized the power of a good sweater vest, and we'd love to see his sartorial signature rendered in J.Crew's deliciously soft cashmere—not to mention Patti Mayonnaise's oh-so-Jenna-Lyons polka-dot pullover. Bonus points if the retailer whipped up some collars and canine carriers in honor of Porkchop, too.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Warby Parker
OK, so these artfully-named reptiles didn't exactly need vision correction—but still, wouldn't their signature blue, orange, red and green hues look awesome on Warby's stylish eyewear? So much more wearable than those ninja masks the turtles wore—not to mention less threatening. We're all for a set of bright tortoiseshell specs. Turtle power!
Rainbow Brite for American Apparel
When in search of colorful hoodies, boldly-hued basics and disco duds, American Apparel's our domestically-produced go-to. And who better to team up with the company than Rainbow Brite, she of the striped moon boots, hair bows and overalls? We already know the folks at AmApp love a good pair of leg warmers; here's their opportunity to produce Crayola color-blocked versions (to tuck into some matching moon boots, obviously).
My Little Pony for Comme des Garçons Play
You probably still remember the icons your My Little Pony had emblazoned on its behind (mine had stars and clouds). And from its previous team-ups with Where's Waldo? and The Simpsons' Matt Groening, we know Rei Kawakubo isn't averse to the occasional cartoon collab. Might we suggest magical equines splashed with the Play collection's signature peeping hearts—and likewise, pony-embroidered Play tees, cardis and sneakers?
Pokémon for Opening Ceremony
The store's joined forces with Tron, Where the Wild Things Are, the Muppets and more—and next, we'd love to see Opening Ceremony roll out a line of merch inspired by Charmander, Pikachu, Jigglypuff and all our other favorite species from the Pokédex. Lord knows Poké Ball sunglasses are no crazier than what the store usually stocks—and come to think of it, Ash's signature snapback wouldn't look too out of place at New York Fashion Week. Gotta catch 'em all.
Babar for Maison Kitsuné
With his stately crown, green three-piece suit and tiny red bowtie, Babar's one of the most beloved French children's book heroes ever created (the Little Prince is adorable and all, but he has the advantage of opposable thumbs). So what would happen if Maison Kitsuné's Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki temporarily abandoned their label's signature fox logo in favor of a noble pachyderm? We'd buy it for sure.
Jem and the Holograms for MAC
While brainstorming ideas for this story, we were actually shocked MAC hadn't tapped Jem (née Jerrica), Kimber, Aja and Shana for a collab yet. After all, their beauty looks were a major highlight of the series—think pink eyeshadow, bright lip gloss and some truly crazy contouring. Oh, and just imagine the nail possibilities. Who's down for a holographic mani?
