My Namesake Jewelry, Found!

As a little kid, I wasn't so crazy about my last name (sorry, Dad). Sure, it's a fact universally known that no matter what a child's first or last name, her peers will find a way to make fun of it. But I have a sneaking suspicion that I was taunted with more cries of "It's a's a's Fish Man!" than, say, Apple Martin was with "apple martini" jokes. That's partly because most elementary-schoolers probably don't yet know what a martini is, and partly because, well, who's gonna mock the probably-superhuman offspring of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin? But I digress.

Melissa Joy Manning, whose sustainable jewelry frequently features raw-cut stones and hammered recycled metals, has teamed up with Jack's Coffee on a limited-edition collection of cuffs ($165) and bracelets ($225) made from vintage fishing lures. And after seeing the first photos of the collaboration (above and below), I can't wait to wear one of the fish-adorned baubles as an ID bracelet. Get it? It's a namesake piece of jewelry that's also a pun—and goodness knows I can't resist either of those things.

Oh, and in addition to being perfectly suited to those with sea-life-related last names, the Melissa Joy Manning x Jack's Coffee jewels would also make a fine gift for your favorite Pisces. And yes, I myself happen to be a Pisces. Score.

Available at Jack's Coffee, 146 Montauk Highway, Amagansett, NY 11930, (631) 267-5555
