Your First Look At The Met's Punk: Chaos to Couture Exhibit—And 10 Things We Loved!

Our invite to the Met Ball appears to have gotten lost in the mail—again—but thanks to the Costume Institute's official press preview for Punk: Chaos to Couture this morning, we were able to check out the exhibit hours before tonight's A-list guests. And while this year's theme might be causing an unusual amount of stress amongst the gala's attendees, many of whom aren't used to dressing in studs and spikes, it sure makes for a phenomenal museum display.

From a recreation of one of CBGB's graffiti-heavy bathrooms to the multicolored, Truffula-tree-esque wigs worn by each mannequin, the attention to detail and adherence to theme was astounding. Of course, the clothes were the exhibit's real highlight, and we couldn't resist a little good old-fashioned Instagramming as we wandered through each room. Click through to see our 10 favorite things from Punk: Chaos to Couture—and be sure to catch the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 9 through August 14!
