Five Slip Dress and Sweater Combos to Try Right Now

1. The Sporty-Sexy Combo

If you're wearing a slinky, femme fatale dress during the day, you've got to balance it with a structured, slightly oversized knit. While there are plenty of ways to mix color here, go with navy and black when in doubt. It always works.

It's been impossible to follow the Spring 2014 shows this month without noticing a preponderance of slip dresses. Sashaying down the runways in satin and silk at Narciso Rodriguez, clouding our heads with '90s Baywatch nostalgia at DKNY, cut from iridescent pastel fabric at Rag & Bone—they're everywhere.

Of course, seeing as how the collections I just referenced are all intended for spring, it's easy to file this trend away with crop tops, bermuda shorts and other things you'll try when it's warm enough. But I say why wait?! All you need to wear a spaghetti strap sheath this fall is a few good pullovers and some styling chops. Click through the slideshow above for my top five suggestions.
