Gwyneth Paltrow's Most Controversial Looks Ever, In Honor Of Her 41st Birthday

Let's start with what's arguably GP's most famous red carpet look to date: the pink Ralph Lauren princess gown she wore to collect her Best Actress Oscar for Shakespeare in Love in 1999. Fans insist she looked like a minimalist-chic Sleeping Beauty; critics argue the dress was too long and that it gaped in the boobs. As for me, I'm gonna go on record and say that this is probably one of the most iconic Academy Awards ensembles of all time. Good stuff, Gwyn.

As a diehard fan of pretty much anything Gwyneth Paltrow does (GOOP, cookbooks and awkward mom dancing included), I rarely—if ever—find fault with any of her red carpet style choices. It seems, however, that I am alone in that mentality, because the actress has stepped out in more than a few controversial looks during her several decades in the movie biz. So today, in honor of Gwyneth's 41st birthday, I've rounded up 15 of her most daring ensembles to date. Whether they showed lots of skin, were disarmingly sparkly or, um, could've perhaps used a good bra, all of them prove that the star's not above ruffling a few feathers every now and then. Happy birthday Gwynnie, you rule-breaker, you!
