Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2014: Sneakers, Scarves And Other Easy Accessories Take Center Stage

Nothing thrills me more than spotting flats on a runway—don't get me wrong, stilettos have their time and place, but comfy footwear just adds such an approachable (not to mention wearable) touch to a week of peacocking and clothes with sky-high price tags.

For his contemporary Marc by Marc collection, however, Marc Jacobs took things a step (ha!) further by showing every single look with sneakers—yep, even the floor-length dresses and sequined satin jumpsuits that closed the show. Our executive digital editor Verena, perhaps the most enthusiastic supporter of Converse in Lucky's entire office, was obviously thrilled.

I, on the other hand, was most crazy about the silk scarves Marc knotted around the models' necks, cinching their long, loose hair and literally tying each look up nicely. It was the perfect push for me to test-drive the neckerchief trend myself, which we saw emerge last season at Miu Miu. Ditto on the girls' necklaces, which were simply signet rings strung onto chains: classic and completely cool, just like everything Marc does.
