Internships with Oscar de la Renta and Lanvin helped teach Assoulin the tricks of the trade, while gentle pushes from her NYC pals Leandra Medine (of The Man Repeller) and Claire Distenfeld (of buzzy Upper East Side boutique Fivestory) urged her to take the plunge and launch a design career.
