A young Carrie Bradshaw finally met her future BFF Samantha Jones—a role made iconic by Kim Cattrall on Sex and the City—on the Season Two premiere of The Carrie Diaries last Friday. “We’re not instant friends. Samantha has a very strong personality, so Carrie is more guarded at first. But you start to see how and why they become friends and how it lasts for so long,” says actress Lindsey Gort, who was cast as the sassy Florida girl living it up in '80s-era New York City. Of course, we had to know all about the fashion Gort will be wearing throughout the rest of this season. “It’s definitely '80s," says Gort. "Like, someone that goes to Whitesnake concerts. There are a lot of bedazzled shorts, spandex, side-boob and tight, revealing things. You can’t have any inhibitions or shame playing Samantha Jones!”

There is no denying Gort’s resemblance to her vivacious character—she’s a spitting image of a young, beautiful Samantha. “I want to frame my audition outfit in glass; it’s my good luck charm!" she told us when she stopped by Lucky's office. "I wore a black American Apparel one-piece and paired it with a short spandex Zara skirt and black Bebe ankle boots. My hair was big, crazy, curly '80s hair. Samantha was not shy—especially not in her 20s!” We couldn’t agree more. Tune in to the CW next Friday at 8 pm EST for an all-new episode of The Carrie Diaries—and in the meantime, shop out some Samantha Jones-inspired fashion and beauty favorites in the slideshow above.
