Katy Perry Challenges Katniss Everdeen For Her 'Girl On Fire' Title In New 'Unconditionally' Video

Senior Digital Editor

When it comes to highly theatrical, over-the-top music videos, nobody does 'em quite like Katy Perry. And what her new clip for PRISM power ballad "Unconditionally" lacks in clear-cut narrative, it more than makes up for in style and sheer, unadulterated beauty.

Over the course of the video, Katy belts it out under softly falling snow, in a room full of ballroom dancers in period garb and—in a particularly memorable moment—as a car literally crumples around her. We always knew the girl could stop traffic, but...wow. There are also several appearances by an owl (to prove that Katy's wiser than she once was, perhaps?), pounds of fluttering, face-framing flower petals à la American Beauty—and at one point, the pop star bursts into flames, Katniss Everdeen-style. And as if those Anna Karenina-esque costumes on her dancers weren't enough, Katy herself sports looks from Wes Gordon, Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana. So fashion.

What do you think of Katy's latest? Does it make you want to crush cars, train birds and wear oversized Maltese cross earrings everywhere?
