Can You Guess How Much This Chanel Backpack Costs?
While we first fell in love with the backpack in grade school (we credit that obsession entirely to Lisa Frank), we've been delighted to see its practical two straps make a resurgence on everyone from street style stars at Fashion Week to top models on the catwalk. Most memorably, it was a street art-inspired piece on Chanel's Crayola-bright Spring 2014's runway that caught our eye. And in this month's issue of Vogue, said knapsack is getting spotlighted—well, about time.
According to the glossy, the bag was part of Karl Lagerfeld's overwhelming punk inspiration, which was seen in everything His Grace (how very Game of Thrones of us) touched—particularly, the 2013 Met Gala. "Picture a young art student spray-painting the blank canvas of a classic backpack and then personalizing it with loops of haphazardly woven ropes and heavy chains—just the kind of punk appropriation Karl Lagerfeld employed [in this instance.]"
Since it's (apprarently) so DIY-inspired, we may suggest DIY-ing it yourself considering that hefty price tag of—get this—$3,400. How's that for a weekend craft project?
