Kanye West On Fashion: 'Everything In The World Is Exactly The Same'
When we saw Seth Meyers' lineup of guests for his first week as Late Night host, we figured Kanye West's night-two appearance would stir up some controversy—which, more or less, he did.
Fresh off the last leg of his Yeezus tour, Kanye appeared calm, collected and, almost weirdly, happy—does he have his eight-month-old daughter to credit? Throughout the interview, Yeezy did, indeed, discuss fatherhood, in addition to The College Dropout (which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year), Saturday Night Live and fashion.
On venturing into the realm of clothing design, Kanye said that he just hopes to break down the wall of music —which he credits Michael Jackson, Jay Z and Russell Simmons for building—to make way for more "overall creative expression" in the field. Little known fact: Kanye originally attended college for painting; artistic expression has always been a constant in his career, y'all.
Following the 10-minute interview, Kanye performed a career-spanning medley of seven of his biggest hits: "Jesus Walks," "Touch the Sky," "Stronger," "Heartless," "All of the Lights," "Mercy," and "Black Skinhead."
