WATCH: Lena Dunham Parodies Scandal On SNL
It should be a surprise to no one that Lena Dunham is perhaps the most realistic and down-to-earth celebrity currently working in entertainment (though Jennifer Lawrence does, of course, give her a good run for her money). But as the host on Saturday's SNL, Girls' fearless leader was able to flaunt a skill we mortals have come to perfect: fangirling.
Lena has been a Scandal mega-fan for the show's entire run, admitting on a recent episode of the "B.S. Report" that, "My life's great passion is the idea of being a guest star on Scandal. I want to be, like, a senator who does something wrong." As expected, Lena's SNL episode featured a Scandal sketch, in which Lena plays Kelsey, an Olivia Pope & Associates newcomer who is dumbfounded by the group's competence.
Kerry Washington's Olivia, played by Sasheer Zamata, sends "Kelsey" to Mexico to place a bug on its first lady. "Not to be whatever, but if it's a ball, maybe you should go instead of me," Lena responds. "Just saying, like, you're a stunning black woman in a phenomenally tailored white pantsuit and these are the fanciest clothes I own."
It is, essentially, what we would imagine Hannah Horvath to be like if she were to step into Washington, D.C.'s crisis management world.
