Good news: you don't need to look like a model to dress like one. Click through to nail their off-the-clock look in six easy steps.
1. Build Your Look Around a Neutral Color Scheme
M.O.D. (model-off-duty, of course) style is about standing out in the subtlest way possible, like you threw a bunch of random pieces on that coincidentally look amazing together. That means focusing more on a mix of interesting textures and shapes than bright look-at-me colors.

2. Carry A Roomy Handbag
Considering all the random things a model needs during her very long workday—spare shoes, extra bottles of green juice, emergency face wipes—a clutch is out of the question (although she might stash one in a bigger bag for later). But rather than resort to a giant canvas sack, she'll go with something sleek and structured, like a doctor satchel or leather tote.

3. Mix In A Statement Piece

Remember, though, this won't work unless you follow my first tip: when dealing with something bold or bright—or both!—an otherwise neutral outfit is essential. You don't want any other colors, prints or logos competing with your hero piece.

4. Stick With Comfortable Shoes

But not just any comfortable shoes—models prefer tomboy-inspired footwear, like a pair of moto boots or sneakers. Besides holding up better than ballet flats on the street, those keep their outfits from looking too planned.

5. When In Doubt, Wear A Slouchy Pullover

If whatever effortless model-off-duty ensemble you're trying to scrape together Just. Isn't. Working., take a deep breath, swallow the scream rising in the back of your throat and throw on an oversized knit. It matches everything, and magically gives all outfits some "I threw this on in a hurry after walking the Balenciaga show" glamour, I swear!
