Emma Watson Brought An Undercover Bodyguard To Her Brown Graduation
Perhaps you caught Emma Watson's tweet on Sunday—in which the star sported a Hogwarts-esque commencement robe and a festive red lip—announcing her graduation from Brown University. After starting at the Providence, R.I. college in 2009 and taking intermittent time off to film Harry Potter, the 24-year-old actress has officially received her bachelor's degree in English literature. Hooray!
At the ceremony, Watson was photographed sitting next to a female pal in an identical cap and gown combination. As it turns out, however, her schoolmate wasn't actually a student at all, but rather a bodyguard in disguise. Following the ceremony, Watson was photographed exiting with her bodyguard in tow, though by this point the guard had taken off all graduation regalia.
While it should be fairly self-evident why the actress chose to sit next to her bodyguard, a Brown spokesman told Page Six he was "unable to answer questions" regarding the event. Well, it makes perfect sense, logistically: giant crowd plus world-famous celebrity? It's clearly far better to be safe than sorry.
