Cara Delevingne Is, Indeed, Designing A Capsule For DKNY

Yesterday, Cara Delevingne posted a cryptic Instagram photo touting something she called “#Cara4DKNY.” After a whirlwind afternoon of speculation, the 21-year-old supermodel soon after answered all of our questions with—what else—yet another Instagram announcing her first capsule collection with the brand (or, for that matter, any other brand), set to hit stores in November. We figure the range, called Cara Delevingne for DKNY, will give Alexander Wang’s insanely anticipated collaboration with H&M a run for its money.

“I can’t believe that some random, rough ideas have finally turned into my own collection…designs with my own name on them and in collaboration with the iconic DKNY brand,” said Delevingne to Women’s Wear Daily. “It is so wild to realize that is has been an entire year since we began planning this project together…goes to show that time does fly when you’re having fun.”

According to WWD, the 15-piece range will feature many a Delevingne staple, including tank tops, leather bombers, beanies and even a sweatsuit which she describes as her “dream pantsuit, because you can boy it up, split it up or suit it up.”

The line will spotlight a fan participation element, too, giving Instagram users the chance to appear in a special DKNY photo shoot with Delevingne. All it takes is posting a ‘gram of yourself “looking fresh” between now and June 16, and including two hashtags: “Cara4DKNY” and “CaraWantsYou.” There’s more details on Delevingne’s Instagram account.

Between DKNY’s urban edge and the collection’s social media component, the experience is truly tailor-made for Delevingne. “[Donna Karan] always encouraged my design input, my personal style and my ideas from the very beginning of our working relationship,” she said. “They truly embrace the weirdness in all of us, so you can really be yourself.”
