The Hunger Games Goes High Fashion: Seven Brand-New Mockingjay: Part 1 Posters Are Here!
I’m going to be completely honest when I say this, at the risk of alienating a whole legion of my fellow YA novel worshippers: I really, really didn’t like Mockingjay. As the third and final installment in the beloved The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay not only felt disturbing, but also discombobulated. Not to mention, the film version of the story—like so many recent book-to-movie adaptations—is going to be split into two parts. And in the case of Mockingjay’s storyline, I genuinely don’t understand how that can be done effectively.
But, I digress.
With Mockingjay, Part 1 due out in theaters on November 21, it’s about time for its first set of promotional posters to hit the interwebs. Right on schedule, Lionsgate released seven of the film’s brand-new ads today—and no, they’re not what we were expecting. There’s no Jennifer Lawrence, no Liam Hemsworth, no Josh Hutcherson, no Woody Harrelson, no Elizabeth Banks; instead, the posters feature seven “real-life” citizens of Panem. These images, each showcasing a different district, are really quite Alexander McQueen-like. Take District 6, the transportation sector, for example: those are tire pants, folks.
But before I get too carried away and accidentally blurt out any number of Mockingjay spoilers, just click through the slideshow above to check out Mockingjay, Part 1’s new, impressively high-fashion movie posters.
